Everything rises and falls on leadership. Successful leaders understand the importance of strengthening these four pillars of leadership:
Not only do leaders have to cast (bold) vision, they have to gain buy-in to that vision, and then create a culture of accountability to that vision. Leaders know how to find a way rather than find an excuse.
Leadership is measured by influence, and a leader will never increase their influence without having respect for those they lead, and earning respect from those they lead.
Leaders recognize they must be responsible for their own character and personal development before they can expect others to follow them. If your people don’t know what to expect from you as a leader, at some point, they won’t look to you for leadership.
Successful leaders understand the significant power of adding value to others and having a mindset of servant leadership. True leaders serve their organization by casting a clear vision, empowering others, and coming alongside. Need inspiration? Cheryl Bachelder provides a great example.
I was honored to write more in depth on this subject on the Everyday Power Blog, and I hope you’ll jump over to their site to read the entire post. Work on each of these pillars everyday and you’ll begin to see your influence – and your leadership – expand.
